2011 Chess Camp Schedule

Children are immersed in the magical world of chess during our camps. Campers learn from our chess masters and professional teachers. Their chess knowledge and skill will grow quickly.

June 13-17, 2011: Hinsdale Chess Camp, at The Community House

Ages 6-14.

Join us for our highly popular annual summer chess camp in Hinsdale. Campers will learn chess strategies and tactics from our experienced team of professional chess instructors. Campers will be placed in groups according to their age and chess level.

Daily activities include:

Entertaining and interactive instruction
Chess play, including tournaments and bughouse
Soccer and basketball

We will begin at 9:00 each morning and conclude at 3:00. Campers must bring a bag lunch daily.

CAMP REGISTRATION

Please register on-line at www.thecommunityhouse.org , or at the front desk of the Hinsdale Community House. Please indicate t-shirt size and your child’s chess level on the registration form. The camp fee is $280 for Community House members and $320 for non-members. Morning and afternoon half-day fees are $150 for Community House members and $170 for non-members.

June 20-24, 2011: Chicago Chess Masters Camp, at the Latin School

Ages 6-14. Campers will receive master chess instruction from U.S. Chess Federation and World Chess Federation (FIDE) Masters, all of whom have vast experience in teaching chess to children. Our instructors will lead students through various activities, including tournaments, blitz chess, lectures, bughouse chess, and game analysis. The instructors will cover openings, endgames, tactics, and strategies. Games of the masters and the games of the campers will be analyzed. Campers will be placed in groups according to age and ability level. We will visit the famous Lakefront chess pavilion everyday for blitz and bughouse chess. Campers must bring a bag lunch daily. Please indicate t-shirt size and your ability level on the registration form. Camp is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The camp fee is $375.
